LUVs On ATV Trails
Can LUVs operate on our ATV trails ?

Sorry, no - the D.N.R. and Marinette County Forestry department has released a list of county`s where LUV (side-by-side) Light Utility Machines may operate on a select list of ATV trails. One of these counties is Marinette County. But! Only on the Dungood ATV trail system. You cannot operate a LUV on Dusty Trails as this is Oconto, you may not operate on Woodland Trails nor can you operating on N.E.W. Riders trails. Only on the Dungood ATV trail system in northern Marinette County. This is a trial 2 year program which will determine if LUVs may operate on existing ATV trails successfully. A special trail decal is required from the D.N.R or forestry department prior to operating.

Side-by-Side ATVs on Roads
LUVs or UTVs cannot operate on the road way!

The LUV (Light Utility Vehicle) or UTV (Utility Vehicle) also known as a side-by-side ATV are new and therefore do not have a legal definition as of yet. What does this mean? You cannot operate these machines on any road or ATV trail (Except Dungood ATV Trail system with a permit) in Marinette County. You cannot put a slow moving sign on them and ride on the road. You cannot use these machines for ``farming`` and ride them on the road. Because of this, if you are operating one of these machines on any road way (except Dungood trails) you will receive a fine. Hope this clears some misconceptions up.

Cnty Q in Pound
Can riders operate on this road?

No, County Q (Main Street) of Pound in the Village of Pound is not a legal ATV route. Riders cannot legally operate an ATV from the Pound park to 17th road. The club is working on obtaining this section of road, but as yet this is not a legal route. Some riders have reported receiving fines for operating there ATV on this road following the Pound fireman`s picnic. We are sorry for this, the club map shows this as a dead end route. In the future we hope to obtain permission to use this section, but for now it is illegal. If anyone knows of a way, we can build a trail from 17th road to the parking lot of the storage facility to the park, please contact the club.

Helpful Stuff
Top 10 Ways To Minimize Your Impact With an ATV

1. Stay only on roads, trails or other areas designated for ATV use.

2. Try to stay in the middle of the trail to avoid widening it.

3. Cross streams only at designated fording points, where the trail crosses. Approach the stream slowly, crossing at a 90-degree angle.
