Club News
On 11.21.08 what`s new?
| ATV TRAILS CLOSED | | The local ATV trails are now closed for the season! | It’s been another great season for ATV riding. However, the season has come to an end. The club has been picking up the trail signs, cleaning up and putting things away for next year. Please do not ride on the trails until spring after we re-mark things. Many of the land owners in the area will be bow hunting and have requested that you stay out! Also, keep in mind, ATV are not allowed on the snowmobile trails in this area. So if you think about riding on them once the snow hits, don’t . See you again next year… |
| Wisconsin Gun Deer Season | | Read your rule books before riding your ATV | Opening day November 22 is coming – please read your ATV rules and regulations booklet for operating an ATV on public lands during gun deer season. Some public land has a ban on ATV use during this week. Other areas do not allow ATV use at any time. Deer season also does not give you permission to operate an ATV on roads that are not marked as routes. The same rules apply to the new LUV (Light Utility Vehicles) being sold. Contact your local warden or DNR office before using an ATV on public property. Hunting on private land, as long as you have permission and the gun is unloaded in a case – your safe. Good hunting! |
| Seeking Board Members | | Three positions are available, join in today! | The club currently has three positions open on its board of directors. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals for secretary, trail master and activities coordinator positions. The secretary position I think everyone can figure out, we need someone to take notes during club meetings – then enter the information on our website and keep a hard copy for the next meeting. Trail Master - The trailmaster shall maintain all ATV trails in accordance with the general ATV trail guide lines in said town and maintain safe passage. The trailmaster will be in direct contact with effected landowners. The Activities Coordinator – will be in charge of coming up with new excuses to go for an ATV ride. Obtain pricing and hotel information for over-night rides and keep in touch with local organizations to assist in events per the clubs by-laws. Some promotional responsibilities may also fall in to this position. If you are interested in helping the club give us a call. |
| Website Updated | | We have added some new stuff to our website. | Hopefully like me you have enough vacation stored up to take deer hunting week off from work. If not, check out some of the new stuff we have added to the website. Click on the guest book and tell us where you’re from – leave a comment what you think of the club. What else? Not going to tell you – you will just have to find it on your own. |
| Town of Beaver | | The people have spoken – ATV use wins by 8 votes! | During the November 4 election – the Town of Beaver had an advisory referendum on the books to see how many locals would like to see ATVs legal for use on the town roads. The votes in – out of 628 votes – 318 voted YES they want ATVs on the town roads. So now what? This was an advisory referendum only – it doesn’t mean you start riding on all the roads with your ATV. Residents still have to request and purchase the route signs for the road they wish to sponsor. More to come…. |

Winter ATV Tips
|
If you’re one of the owners who wants to ride your ATV all year long and enjoy playing and plowing in the snow, then these tips should suit you fine. OK, we know winter is cold, especially in the northern U.S. So, one way to winterize your ATV is to add warmth to it. We’re talking adding accessories to make the cold ride more enjoyable. ATV cabs or windshields are nice additions and usually require basic installation skills. Heated grips and/or gauntlets (hand warmers) are good ideas, too. We’ve used both and our gloved hands have fared much better than without either product. Heated grips are far more troublesome to install than the hand warmers, however you must make sure you can safely operate all the controls inside the handwarmers. [Read more...]

Winter is Coming !
Put your ATV in storage or continue riding ?
It’s the end of the season for this club’s ATV trails. After October 31 – the trails are closed for ATV use. The snowmobile club will mark there trails for the winter; so what do you do? First, you cannot ride your ATV on the snowmobile trails in this area. That will just earn you a fine. So, pack up and head for the North.
The DunGood Riders Inc. trails are open for both ATV and snowmobile use. Check our calendar for ride schedule. Enjoy!

Wisconsin Deer Season
Use caution during deer season when riding!
Are you thinking of going on an ATV ride during gun deer season? I’m sorry, but that would be a really stupid idea! It’s true that some ATV trails maybe open during the month of November, but unless you are hunting on your own private property – leave the ATV at home for that week.
OK – Let me explain – If you simply get the urge to go for an ATV ride – that would be a stupid idea. Not everyone (especially during deer season) will tolerate an ATV screaming through the Northern woods of Wisconsin while attempting to hunt the vicious white tail.

What if I am using my ATV to hunt? Yes, ATVs are a great way to get to and from the deer stand. But! If you are hunting on public property – keep in mind that area maybe closed to ALL ATV USE during gun deer week. Not all roads are marked as routes so you cannot travel to and from your vehicle or home to hunt.
Simply – you will get into more trouble than its worth using an ATV on public property during gun deer week. Leave the ATV at home!

What If I am hunting on my own private property or friends? Not a problem, as long as you have permission to be on that property and your weapon of mass destruction is unloaded and in a case. Enjoy!
One last note – the same applies to the new LUV (Light Utility Vehicles) or side-by-side machines that are being sold. Read the D.N.R. rules book and I strongly urge you to contact your local warden before attempting to use these machines on public land during gun deer week. You’ll thank me later for doing it….Good Hunting!
